FOOD LOG:

After stuffing myself with a large pepperoni & black olive pizza from Papa John's last night (yes, I ate the whole thing by myself), I had no desire to eat anything all morning. Had not even a full cup of coffee during my son's football game & attempted to drink a packet of vanilla pea protein powder before my workout @ 11:30 but it tasted like total caca, so I didn't get past the first sip. When I got home I had some gummie worms and gummie soda things my boys insisted I eat. My first real meal didn't come until around 2pm.

I also literally went from feeling awesome yesterday to feeling like I have a cold today. Scratchy throat, somewhat stuffy/sinus pressure, feeling rundown...I was puffy for most of the day and the scale shows definite water retention...I've been trying to drink as much water as I can.

1:40PM

- A BBQ'ed chicken leg (no skin) and some BBQ'ed steak

- Small bowl of iceburg salad mix with white mushrooms and a little Ranch

During the afternoon I also had 2 squares of a milk chocolate crispy bar thanks to the little boy who came to my door selling chocolate bars. ;)

6:30PM

- 26g chocolate whey with 1/2C unsweetened almond milk & water

7:45PM

- 2 eggs, sliced green zuchinni, 2 sliced roma tomatoes all cooked in butter & seasoned with ground pepper & garlic powder

- 2 handfuls of "natural" lightly buttered popcorn

Certainly not proud of the garbage I ate today. I swear sometimes my hand to mouth reflex is faster than what my brain can process...So while I didn't get nearly the fats & proteins I would normally get in a day, I certainly got more than enough carbs. Honestly, I'm rather annoyed with myself lately because I KNOW I can do better...what's the flippen deal? Ugh...

TRAINING:

- Double KB Front Squats w/26s: 5 sets of 10 (1-0-1 tempo)

- Skull Crushers w/35: 5 sets of 8

A great article from FastPaleo discussing how you should "treat, don't cheat". After last night's pizza fest, this is really where I am at. I would rather indulge in something that's still considered healthy then eat crap like what I had last night, anymore...Lately, the thought of those things being good is really all in my mind, based on aquired experience & habit. Sure at one time those things would have been good...but now they don't even taste the same. And I know that I will only suffer after eating them. It's just going to have to be about making better choices and not making that "cheat meal" an excuse to gorge on garbage. I can't say that there won't ever be a time down the road that I will eat something that resembles meat on a bun or noodles with tomato sauce, it's just that those things will be much fewer and further between. Anyway, here's the article. =)

And a quote taken from Kaitlin of "Kait's Primal Kitchen" on the subject of "treat, don't cheat" (I snagged the above article from her page):

"It's like a long night of drinking or a bad episode of sex with an ex.... fun at the time, not so much the day after...." Don't ruin the fine tuned system you've created in your body by having that gluten laden slice of pizza or sugar crazy piece of birthday cake, you will no doubt regret it in the morning!"
