Almost every day I see another fitness business in the area running a special on one of the "daily deal" sites. I looked into this way back and found that they basically wanted me to give away my product for free, while they skimmed a good profit for doing essentially nothing except sending out an email. I don't think these are good for local businesses, unless the patrons actually sign up long-term. But why should they?
You could do a different gym for every month of the year for very little and never have to commit to one, and from the research I gather, very few people continue to train at a gym they go to as a result of these specials once the intro is over.
So, why didn't I do one of these specials for the exposure? Because I figured it would not be fair to those that faithfully attend my group training, to have to share "their" valuable training time with a gym full of people that may never come back. I invest a good amount of time teaching technique with new people to make sure they are getting the best training I know how to give. I don't want anyone to come to my gym just because they got some screaming discount price on a month at a gym, and will be off to sample the next place the following month. I want them there because they feel it is the best fit for them and they really want to be there.

Other than the questionable quality of meats, this does not have to be a nutritional disaster.
